How Identity Theft Happens
There are all types of identity thieves just waiting for an opportunity to use YOUR information. Privacy Rights.org has a running tally on how many pieces of information have been compromised since 2005. The current tally is: 245,000,000 Here are just some of the ways identity thieves steal your information: Some of the techniques you may have heard of, others you need to learn about. Again, the above is only a partial list of techniques. As technology grows, so does the potential for stealing your good name and personal information. If you have the attitude of "You can have my identity, you wouldn't want my life", think about this: What would you do if you woke up one morning and found your picture was on the front page of the newspaper for having a child porn site on the internet? Do you still think your personal information isn't worth something? Do you really think that this would further impact your life negatively? Think again, you may want to re-evaluate whether you would want someone else to have your identity.
