Identity Theft and RFID’s
Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) are used everyday for entrance into your job, lounge, club or building entry.
RFID's are located in your name badges, credit cards, passports, key fabs and gas cards.

Soon they will be in your driver's licenses as well.
A National ID is in the works with a RFID chip embedded with your personal information.
So why would you be concerned with RFID chips? Aren't RFID chips safe you may ask?
NO, not at all!!!

Did you notice that the reader read the RFID through a thick book and wasn't deterred by a thick chain?? Someone only needs to have a reader which you can buy off eBay, place it in their pocket or purse, walk by you and steal your information.
This is all done without you knowing it or coming physically in contact the identity thief.
Not all RFID readers are created equal. As you can see, some readers have a much longer range to read the information on your RFID chip.

This means your credit card information , passport information, etc. can silently and covertly be stolen from you without you ever being aware that it's been taken.
Until days, weeks or months later.....
What's the next step to to protect your information?
There are more and more products coming out on the market to protect the information stored on your RFID chip.
If you are looking for an inexpensive way to protect your credit card or passports, you can cover them with heavy duty aluminum foil or seal them in water. This will block an RFID reader from stealing your valuable information.
